LOD Staffing has openings for Diesel Mechanic.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel powered machines such as loaders, bulldozers, excavators, forklifts, and other construction or industrial machinery or vehicles. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, electrical systems, and brake systems on heavy equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled servicing on machinery.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic malfunctions using diagnostic tools and manuals.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Operate equipment to test functionality and ensure repairs meet operational standards.
• Adhere to all safety regulations, procedures, and company policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, and team members regarding equipment status and needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 1year of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with heavy equipment.
• Proficiency with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
• The ability to pass a Background and Drug Screening
• Basic computer skills for inputting work orders and maintenance records.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE Certification or equivalent vocational/technical training.
• Experience with specific brands (e.g., Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Case, or Volvo equipment).
• Welding and fabrication experience a plus.

Work Environment

• Work performed in shop and outdoor environments, exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
• May require working extended hours, weekends, or on-call shifts depending on operational needs.
• Safety equipment and PPE must be worn at all times.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for handling tools and equipment.
• Ability to remain alert, focused, and safety-conscious in a fast-paced, high-risk environment.
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
